Lovecraft & Friends

Probably one of my favourite things I've ever done. Seems a bit rude to bung it up on the old blog. So here he is.

I'm doing a short print run of these - A3 size on 220gsm gloss paper, only 20 available. Leave a comment or email me if you're interested.

War in Hell

A work-in-progress, but pretty much there now. Getting my horror fix before I embark on that new pro colouring gig. Inspired in part by the Great War flashbacks in Ian Edginton's Ampney Crucis Investigates in 2000AD and by more general Lovecraftian themes (Lovecraft of course being a direct influence on Edginton).

New inky portraits

Been a while since I did any of these - great practice for keeping it loose. L-R: Bob Dylan, Harry Dean Stanton, H.P. Lovecraft and Jimmy Stewart. Each one is for sale for £12.50 plus postage.

Art Swap - the finale

We couldn't leave our beloved scribe out of the Fractal Friction team art swap, so here's the distinctly Lovecraftian piece I produced for the Emperor. Careful readers may note the reappearance of 'The Acolyte', from the piece I did for Chris Askham.

Art swap

Me and a few of my artist buddies are exchanging original sketches, to spread the love and all that. James Corcoran has produced a fantastic portrait of Edgar Allen Poe for me (see it here: http://james-corcoran.blogspot.com/2010/06/art-swap.html ). In return, he requested a cosmonaut from me.
I initially did some very rough pencils for this, then decided to tighten them up much more than I usually do, The final piece was inked with my pentel brush pen, which forces me to draw more slowly and controlled. The end result is a lot tighter than a lot of my usual stuff, but I enjoyed the process and it's fun to mix it up now and again.

Chris Askham asked for 'something Lovecraftian', and this was what I came up with:
I bloody Love Lovecraft. I could draw this sort of stuff all day, every day.

I'd like to colour these too, so watch this space for those.

The Old House

This is for a new illustration I'm doing based on a story by a certain Mr H.P. Lovecraft. I've got a strip in the pieline for the near future, which will be based on a different story of his - but I wanted to get in to 'Lovecraft Country' with this first. I'll post the other stages as they're done.

And the inked version.

 Then a quick colour test.

Cthulhu blowing off

Produced this a few weeks back as a last minute illo to accompany a piece by the Emperor on climate change that was published in 'The End is Nigh' issue 4. Basically, the idea is that the waste methane produced by a still slumbering Cthulhu would cause just as much damage to the world as if he awoke and started getting medieval on Tokyo, New York et al. The kind of brief I dream of really.
