Lives! Lives for The Master!
A couple images from Coppola's 1992 adaptation of Dracula, and an evil Bilbo thrown in for good measure.

Horror pics - inked & toned at last!
Had an exhausting few weeks and been fighting off the lurgy continually, but here at long last are the 3 Hammer/Universal horror drawings from last month inked up and toned. Inspired by Dark Horse Comics Patric Reynolds' masterful ink & wash work, I decided to try my hand at something similar with the Mummy pic. This was inked with a Winsor & Newton series 7, a larger Pro arte 5/8" brush and a toothbrush for the splatters. Quite pleased with the results actually, but then I got the fear and went back to the Pentel brush pen for the next 2. Will practice though.

Come quietly or there will be... TROUBLE
So the long-rumoured remake/reboot is gearing up again, this time with The Killing's Joel Kinnaman in the title role. I was hugely excited for a time when Darren Aronofsky was attached as director - that conjured up all kinds of cerebral sci-fi weirdness in my head anyway, but alas that time has passed. Still, it could be great.
Will it ever live up to Verhoeven's original though? Well, that's a different matter. And Dick? You're fired!

Johnny Rico
Hot off the press! Getting a little bit bored of heavy inks so decided to do something different - and here's the result. Pencil and (digital) tones study of Casper van Dien as Johnny Rico in Starship Troopers.

Ming the Merciless & Princess Aura
Done for the Weekly Themed Art Blog. First one I've managed in a while, but a recent re-watch of the 1980 movie convinced me I couldn't let this one pass me by!

Myrna Loy (unfinished portrait)
Another A3 pencil portrait copied from a photograph, of the actress Myrna Loy (getting some more practice in drawing 1930s/40s glamour pusses in preparation for 'Last Road to the Backwoods'). I say unfinished but I think I'll leave it as it is now.

You're dog-meat, pal!
Drew this today for The Weekly Themed Art Blog. Another character I've been wanting to draw for ages, the current theme (1980s Action Movies) gave me the perfect excuse.

You found him in a junk pile?
Sketching Star Wars stuff makes me feel like a contented eight year old again. Colour version is unfinished.

Toshiro Mifune
Last one tonight. Not a fantastic likeness, but lots of fun nonetheless. As far as I can recall, I've never drawn a Samurai before, so this at least remedies that.
