Enjoyed drawing Rogue for the Mike McMahon tribute so much, I decided to have another stab at him.

Here it is - my attempt at recreating the classic cover of the 1985 annual (my childhood favourite - I used to stare at Rogue and dream of what it would have been like if Cam Kennedy alternated art duties with McMahon...)

2000AD annual cover

For reasons no-one can quite fathom, I'm working on a mock-up annual cover, based on Mike McMahon's classic 1985 2000AD cover. Keeping to the same layout, I've drawn Dredd, Rogue and a full figure sketch of Slaine, just need to compose it on the mac, add the old school logo and colour it all. Just doing it for a laugh really, and as a tribute to the great man. Sketches to follow...

Had a couple of ideas, so if I get me skates on I might enter twice this time.

The brief, as set by last month's winner (the mighty Gibson Quarter), is 'Justice Dept hardware in action', so my first piece showcases the Lawgiver MkII. IIn this one, Dredd wears his waterproof poncho, as seen in 'The Connection', drawn by Kev Walker. I love this look, and I'm going to try and combine it with some Sin City-style rain.

The second piece shows the legendary stub gun in action against a Sov tank, in a scene from the Apocalypse war.

Been drawing a lot of dredd stuff this week, including ideas for the next 2000AD message board art competition. These are works in progress...

After a bit of feedback from Bolt at Dogbreath/Zarjaz, I've made some changes to my Dredd page. Eager to move on and start some new stuff now - got a portrait of Durham Red in mind, a kind of DC 'Elseworlds' take on her...
