Finished the first batch of illos for Starscape, but obviously can't post them here yet, so here's another random work in progress. The beastie is the creepy offspring of those nasty arachnid vampire sketches I did a while back, with the addition of a 'bonestraw' instead of fangs - thanks to Emperor for that nifty little idea. Want to work this up into a nice finished piece.
Ooooo that is already looking nasty and I'm glad Random Idea #13,492,701 came in handy (I knew I'd hit gold eventually ;) ). Anyway if this is the work in progress then I can't wait to see the finished version, although I suspect I will (unless you are poised to post the finished version right now).

ReplyDeleteYour inking has gone to the next level as of late. The line work on the arachnid is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys. Looking at it now I can see what needs changing - the angle of the arach-vamp's hand is wrong, plus the inking on him is both looser and thicker than the soldier. That's the problem with not having an A3 scanner, and having to draw things separately then composite them in photoshop - you tend to get these slight inconsistencies, and really now I should re-ink one of them entirely. Ah well - it's on the shopping list (along with a new mac, a cintiq, an iphone etc etc)
